Biography

Dr. Krane is an associate professor at the Yale School of Medicine and a faculty member of the Department of Surgery, Division of Cardiac Surgery. Covering the whole spectrum of cardiac surgery procedures, his main clinical focus is on heart valve repair and reconstruction in conventional and minimal invasive techniques. With more than 170 procedures, he is one of the world's most experienced cardiac surgeons in performing aortic valve neocuspidization (AVNeo) for aortic valve reconstruction using of autologous pericardium.

His major cardiovascular basic science interests are on molecular mapping of the heart (omics analysis), cardiac development and cardiac regeneration. Dr. Krane's predominant clinical-scientific focus is on retro- as well as prospective studies of surgical therapeutic procedures for structural heart disease.

His clinical training in Cardiac Surgery was completed at the German Heart Center Munich at the Technische Universität München, Germany. After board certification for Cardiac Surgery in 2015 worked as a Consultant in Cardiac Surgery at the German Heart Center Munich. In 2016 he became the Deputy Director of the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery at the German Heart Center Munich and in 2017 the Head of the Institute for Translational Cardiac Surgery (INSURE) at the German Heart Center Munich.
