The Stockroom began in the 1960’s in the department of Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry in support of their growing department. The service was well received and the envy of other departments in need of the same support.

Shortly thereafter, services were extended to the entire research community, and a second location was opened at the School of Medicine. Both stockrooms operated with an open store policy and a completely manual billing and inventory system. Stock requisition forms were filled out at Point of Sale (POS), a Rolodex inventory card system was used to lookup pricing information and requisitions were priced and totaled by hand.

With the introduction of personal computers in the 1970’s the first automated billing and inventory system was implemented. This allowed quick and reliable checkout and billing for our customers.
