2022 Perspectives of Women in Science Lecture

Valerie Reinke, Vice Chair of the Department and Professor of Genetics, announced the creation of a Vice Chair of Diversity position. The new role was designed to “establish a framework to scrutinize [the Department’s] current practices and truly commit to change that enhances diversity.” Dr. Reinke acknowledged the need for more intention in “advocating for and facilitating the presence and advancement of under-represented groups.”

A Class Act
The Yale Class of 1961 Cancer Center Endowment provides generous support for some of Yale Cancer Center’s most promising scientists. The legacy from the Yale Class is the Yale Class of 1961 Cancer Center Endowment. Established in 2016, the Endowment, which stands at more than $1.5 million and continues to grow, has honored one Yale Cancer Center faculty member each year since its inception with a $50,000 grant to support their highly promising cancer research.
