Amos Espinosa, a PhD candidate in the Krause Laboratory and a medical research scholar in the Yale Combined Program in the Biological and Biomedical Sciences, has been awarded an F31 NRSA Fellowship from the National Cancer Institute. The grant supports promising doctoral candidates during their dissertation research and training, funding students in health-related scientific fields who are working to become independent researchers focused on cancer. Espinosa’s project is titled, “Implicating the SPOC Domain of RBM15 in RBM15: MKL1 Fusion Protein-Induced Acute Megakaryoblastic Leukemia.” Espinosa’s research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms of cancer development – specifically, acute megakaryoblastic leukemia, a rare, aggressive subtype of acute myeloid leukemia.
