Biography
Dr. Balasuriya is dedicated to serving her community. She is passionate about addressing disparities in access to preventative care that impact individuals from communities disproportionately impacted by the structural and social determinants of health. She is committed to health equity and partnering with communities to reach their health and wellness goals.
Her current work has focused on increasing access to COVID-19 vaccines in New Haven communities hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. She serves alongside New Haven community partners to remove structural barriers to vaccine access.
Career and Research Interests:
- Addressing healthcare disparities in access to preventative care
- Recruiting and retaining the future leaders of healthcare to go on to care for our most underserved patients
