Yale University, the University of Connecticut, and Quinnipiac University have joined forces with Connecticut Innovations and the Bioscience Innovation Fund to help you commercialize your biomedical technology innovation (medical devices, diagnostics and health information technology). 2019 BioMed Amgen Scholars
The Amgen Scholars Program at Yale is a partnership between the Amgen Foundation and the Yale School of Medicine MD-PhD and Biological and Biomedical Sciences PhD programs. The goal of the program is to recruit students from under-represented groups to biomedical careers and help them succeed as scientists or physician-scientists.
Geneticist Lesch Is Named a 2019 Searle Scholar

Yale Stem Cell Center will host two-day symposium to celebrate its 10th anniversary
Since it was founded in 2006, the Yale Stem Cell Center has supported the ground-breaking work of researchers and scientists working in basic stem cell research and translational science. On Thursday, Nov. 10, and Friday, Nov. 11, the center will hold a symposium in honor of its 10th anniversary.
A changing of the guard at BBS Program, as director is tapped to lead graduate school
The new academic year has seen a shifting of roles within Yale’s largest graduate program with the appointment of its director, Lynn Cooley, Ph.D., as dean of the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences. She is succeeded as BBS director by Anthony J. Koleske, Ph.D., professor of molecular biophysics and biochemistry and of neurobiology.

Yale SACNAS chapter wins 2nd award for supporting students underrepresented in STEM
The Yale chapter of Society for Advancement of Chicanos/Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS), just entering its fourth year, received its second chapter award at the SACNAS Award Ceremony on October 13. The organization is tasked with supporting underrepresented students in STEM through professional development, student mentorship, and an outreach program to the New Haven community.
Intersections Success Story: David Castillo Azofeifa, PhD
David Castillo Azofeifa, PhD, a postdoctoral fellow at the University of California San Francisco, said that when he applied and was accepted as a fellow at the first Intersections Science Fellows Symposium, he expected it to begin and end with the three-day event for presenting his research and making connections. In reality, says Castillo Azofeifa, it was much more. “Intersections really prepares you for the job market,” he says. “It highlights you as an excellent candidate and it prepares you for what to do. And it connects you with a community of underrepresented people in the sciences.”
Intersections Success Story: Melanie McReynolds, PhD
When Melanie McReynolds, PhD, a postdoctoral researcher at Princeton, attended the first Intersections Science Fellows Symposium in January 2021, she already had three faculty job offers.
