 tman Alumni Fund Mission Statement The fund shall be used to support an a
 nnual scientific symposium or conference at Yale\, which shall be named i
 n honor of Professor Sidney Altman. An overarching objective of the semin
 ar will be to sustain Professor Altman’s enduring legacy as a scientist\,
  mentor\, and educator. Professor Altman shared the 1989 Nobel Prize in C
 hemistry\, awarded for the discovery of RNA's catalytic properties. Profe
 ssor Altman was the Sterling Professor of Molecular\, Cellular\, and Deve
 lopmental Biology\, as well as Chair of Biology and Dean of Yale College.
