Research Departments & Organizations
Previous research activities in conjunction with the bioengineering section of the Yale Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation, we have established an animal model which creates a reproducible muscle contusion injury. At this stage, we are assessing various treatment strategies of this injury which is a common cause of morbidity among athletes; The model will also be used to study physiologic response to injury and mechanisms of healing; Aging and athletic performance; Future of athletic records; Non surgical factors influencing surgical outcomes in heathy patients.
Speciailzed Terms: Musculoskeletal pathophysiology and the effect of rehabilitation and stress on surgical outcomes; Muscle injury and repair; Psychosocial impact on surgical outcome
