Research Summary

I am interested in the development and dissemination of novel teaching software, especially as it pertains to radiology. I am also experimenting with computer aided diagnosis techniques in radiological interpretation.

- Currently available ultrasound teaching simulators are expensive and require the use of dedicated hardware. I have developed and deployed a high-fidelity ultrasound simulator (PERSIMUS) that uses off-the shelf hardware components: smartphones and laptop computers. This allows for the wider dissemination of this technology at a very low cost. See http://www.persimus.org/demo

- I have also developed a software system that uses automatically generated self-testing questions to enable reinforcement learning of radiology trainees (residents and medical students).
