Biography
Patrick Young, PhD is a Data Scientist at the Center for Outcomes Research and Evaluation (CORE). He earned his PhD in Geology and Geophysics from Yale University, concentrating on mantle dynamics and chemistry. Prior to joining CORE, he was an Analyst at Prometheus Research, LLC where he contributed to the development of Qualified Clinical Data Registry (QCDR) applications. He has also worked at ExxonMobil developing a Bayesian belief network-based model to predict the composition and evolution of sand grains in large watersheds. He brings a strong background in quantitative research, experience developing enterprise software solutions, and expertise in clinical informatics systems and data models. At CORE, Patrick is focused on architecting and building a comprehensive, EHR-integrated data-science platform. He is also managing development of predictive models and clinical decision support systems using machine-learning methods in collaboration with clinical leads and researchers at CORE. He has also implemented the ETL of YNHH's Epic EHR into the PCORnet common data model, and produced a blockchain-based application for clinical trial data governance.
