My research is focused on the role of microRNAs in asthma severity. MicroRNAs are key epigenetic regulators of biologic processes, we have identified a microRNA network that is associated with neutrophilic airway inflammation in asthma. We are using systems biology methods to understand the role of these microRNAs in the regulation of airway inflammation.
Extensive Research Description
Our goal is the study of pulmonary diseases using high-throughput technologies and advanced statistical methods to understand disease biology, improve disease classification, and identify therapeutic targets.
Our research in asthma incorporates multiple domains, including clinical phenotyping, computational biology and genomic methods.
My laboratory is also interested in the integration of high-throughput data generated in our laboratory and publicly accessible datasets to understand the biology of airway diseases and the fundamental molecular processes present in pulmonary diseases.
I'm a believer in interdisciplinary approaches to resolve important problems in medicine and I welcome internal and external collaborations that share this vision.
