Johanna Elumn

Research Summary

Dr. Elumn's research focuses on health disparities among people involved in the criminal legal system using CBPR approaches. Her current research focuses on sleep health and examines how sleep health is associated with CVD risk factor control among individuals released from correctional facilities and the potential role of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in the relationship between sleep health and CVD risk. Through a supplement to a HEAL grant from NIDA Transitions Clinic Network: Post Incarceration Addiction Treatment, Healthcare, and Social Support (TCN PATHS) she will examine the association between sleep deficiency and OUD treatment retention in a sample of people receiving MOUD who were recently released from jail and explore sleep environment post-release as a potential mediator.
