Research Summary
Dr. Mroz's research investigates strategies for supporting individuals through caregiving, loss, and end-of-life. Much of her research adopts a life story approach, recognizing that that individuals make sense of their lives through the autobiographical memories they recall and share. Her work investigates ways that memories influence behaviors, care values, and health and wellbeing outcomes in late life and following serious illness onset. To capture personal memories, she employs narrative, thematic, interactional, and qualitative analysis techniques in much of her work. Dr. Mroz is also interested in improving delivery of palliative care through development of communication training and tools for patients, providers, and informal caregivers. She has partnered with clinicians and quality improvement specialists to test novel interventions and refine best practices in palliative care settings.
