Research Summary
As an Endocrinologist, my research interests are focused on the effect of obesity and diabetes on reproductive pathology, specifically cancer and infertility. I have dual appointments in Obstetrics, Gynecology, & Reproductive Sciences and Internal Medicine. Through work with Dr. Hugh Taylor, I’ve developed a skill set examining uterine physiology and pathology. Over several years, my lab has pursued endometrial tissue and in vitro based experiments in addition to mouse models to understand whether high levels of insulin, as seen in type 2 diabetes and obesity, plays a role in endometrial adenocarcinoma development. We also have an ongoing clinical-translational study of women with endometrial hyperplasia and adenocarcinoma. The work is funded by the NIH-NICHD.
