The Marquez-Nostra Laboratory of Cancer Imaging and Therapeutics focuses on the development of radiolabeled peptides and antibodies for positron emission tomography (PET) imaging of cancer biomarkers and the evaluation of investigational therapeutics in breast cancer. Such approach has the potential to predict response to corresponding targeted therapy and to get a global view of the expression of disease targets in the body non-invasively. She is also interested in developing targeted radionuclide therapy to overcome resistance to standard of care antibody therapeutics. These antibodies can be used as drug delivery vehicles for alpha-emitting radionuclides that can damage DNA of cancer cells selectively. Lastly, she is interested in discovering novel probes using phage display peptide/antibody fragment screening of new biomarkers for imaging and treatment of cancer.
