On February 20th the results of a national Match were announced for psychology doctoral internships. Through this process the department’s Internship in Clinical and Community Psychology selected its incoming class of 17 fellows who will spend one year training at Yale beginning July 1, 2015. These trainees were selected from among 378 applicants.
"We had the largest applicant pool in the history of the program," said Dr. Michael Hoge, the department’s director of clinical training in psychology. "Interest in the program continues to grow as the internship gains more visibility nationally."
Dr. Rajita Sinha, chief of psychology for the department, commented that, "This internship program offers a very diverse range of training experiences and the faculty successfully recruited exceptional candidates for each of the available positions."
The incoming psychology fellows applied to one of ten training rotations, which are based at the Connecticut Mental Health Center and Yale-New Haven Hospital. Students typically complete this clinically oriented internship as the final year of a five-year program of graduate study, which leads to a Ph.D. or Psy.D.
