Wendy Cook

Biography

Wendy was born and raised in Costa Rica, where she is a licensed clinical psychologist. She moved to the U.S. in 2013 and is currently a doctoral fellow at Yale School of Medicine. Wendy has dedicated her training to cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness-based, and trauma-informed interventions. Her approach incorporates an understanding of the obstacles that affect mental health (e.g., immigration status, acculturation stress, unemployment, access to care, and medical conditions). Wendy's research is focused on the impact of trauma in underserved communities and the adaptation and development of psychometric measures for Spanish dominant populations. Her most recent work seeks empirical validation of the E-Trauma, a psychological trauma measure in Spanish. The E-Trauma intends to provide an unbiased, culturally, and linguistically sensitive trauma measure for the Spanish dominant populations.
