Lilanthi Balasuriya


Dr. Lilanthi Balasuriya (VA Scholar) is a first-year fellow in the Yale National Clinician Scholar and an American Psychiatric Association Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Fellow. In June of 2020, she completed her residency in Psychiatry in the Yale Department of Psychiatry, where she served as Chief of Medical Education.

As a public psychiatrist, Dr. Balasuriya is dedicated to serving her community. She is passionate about addressing disparities in access to preventative care that impact individuals from underserved communities. She is committed to health equity and partnering with communities to reach their health and wellness goals.

Career and Research Interests:

  • Addressing healthcare disparities in access to preventative care
  • Recruiting and retaining the future leaders of healthcare to go on to care for our most underserved patients
