Yale’s Delphin-Rittmon nominated to lead Conn. Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services

Connecticut Governor Dannel P. Malloy has nominated Miriam Delphin-Rittmon, PhD, assistant professor of psychiatry at Yale, to serve as the commissioner of the state’s Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS). Delphin-Rittmon is a clinical psychologist affiliated with the Yale Program for Recovery and Community Health.

Prior to her appointment as deputy commissioner of DMHAS in January, Delphin-Rittmon was a senior policy advisor in DMHAS and director of the agency’s Office of Multicultural Healthcare Equity. For two years beginning in 2012, she served as a senior advisor in the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

Delphin-Rittmon’s professional and research interests include system-level strategic planning and policy development geared towards eliminating health disparities and promoting recovery-oriented care; and individual, organizational, and system-level cultural competence.
