Radhakrishnan honored with Alavi-Mandell Award

April 23, 2019

Rajiv Radhakrishnan, MD, Instructor in Psychiatry, has been selected to receive the Alavi-Mandell Award from the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging.

The award honors Radhakrishnan for his paper, “Age-Related Change in 5-HT6 Receptor Availability in Healthy Male Volunteers Measured with 11C-GSK215083 PET.” The paper was published September 2018 in The Journal of Nuclear Medicine (JNM). It examined the effect of age on 5-HT6 receptor availability and found a significant age-related decline in 5-HT6 availability (BPND) in the caudate and putamen.

The award is presented to scientists who are the first author of a paper published in JNM, and who make major contributions to completion of the work. Its aim is to encourage young physicians and scientists to pursue a career in academic and research in nuclear medicine.
