Department solicits applications for Detre awards

The Yale Department of Psychiatry is soliciting applications from trainees in its Psychiatry Residency Program for the 2019-20 Thomas P. Detre Fellowship Awards in Translational Neuroscience Research in Psychiatry (NRPT).

The awards have been established in memory of Dr. Detre, an internationally renowned academic psychiatrist, esteemed Yale Psychiatry faculty member/alumnus, and Chair of Psychiatry, Vice Chancellor of Health Sciences, and Dean at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.

The awards will support the translational research endeavors of residents currently enrolled (or residents interested in enrolling) in the Neuroscience Research Training Program in Psychiatry. NRTP residents in PGY 1-3 are eligible to apply, as are residents seeking to be in the NRTP.

As many as three awards of up to $30,000 per award will be funded. Award recipients will be asked to present their translational research proposal to John Krystal, MD, Department Chair, and the individuals whose generosity resulted in the creation of the award.

The deadline to submit a proposal is April 5. Submission materials must include:

  • Translational research proposal (no longer than 2 pages);
  • A copy of the candidate's CV;
  • A letter of support from the candidate's research mentor.

Materials should be submitted in electronic form to Robert Malison, MD, at robert.malison@yale.edu. Submissions will be reviewed by an awards committee. Honorees will be notified by April 26.
