APA to honor Khan with Roeske award

Shaukat Khan, MBBS, Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, has been chosen to receive the Nancy C.A. Roeske, MD, Certificate of Recognition for Excellence in Medical Student Education from the American Psychiatric Association (APA).

The award was established in honor of Nancy C.A. Roeske, MD, and serves as a tribute to her unique and creative contributions to psychiatric education. It is awarded to APA members who have made outstanding and sustaining contributions to medical student education.

Khan is a staff psychiatrist at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System in West Haven and Medical Director of Yale Behavioral Health Services in Hamden. He is President of the Connecticut Psychiatric Society (CPS), a district branch of the APA with nearly 750 members.

He also is involved with Lions Clubs International, District 23A, and is its Immediate Past Governor. In 2018 he received the Lions Clubs International President's Presidential Medal (the highest recognition by Lions International). He also received citations from the Connecticut General Assembly and the first selectman in his hometown of Bethany, who proclaimed June 16, 2018 as Shaukat A. Khan Day in Bethany.
