At this year’s Commencement Ceremony, the Director of Clinical Training in Psychology, Dr. Michael Hoge, recognized Joan Cricca for a recent milestone in her service to Yale.
In April of 1992, Joanie started at the university as the full time student coordinator for the Psychology Section and its Doctoral Internship in Clinical and Community Psychology. She has held that position every day since, marking her 25th anniversary this spring.
For a quarter of a century her primary mission has been to help internship applicants find their way to New Haven to interview; help accepted students navigate entry to the university; and answer the many questions that the fellows pose to her each week of every year. Over the years she has supported 453 psychology fellows with boundless affection and endless patience. They always praise her responsiveness and kindness in their end-of-year evaluations of their training experience at Yale. It was noted that when Joanie started this job, the youngest members of the current graduating class were just over two years old.
Dr. Hoge presented Joanie with an “unusual” trophy and the graduating fellows presented her with flowers and a gift.
Here’s to the next 25 years!
