Kleber presented with department's alumni award at APA reception

The Yale Psychiatry Distinguished Alumni Award was presented May 22, 2017, to Herbert D. Kleber, MD, Professor of Psychiatry at Columbia University.

The award was presented at the Yale Department of Psychiatry's annual Alumni Reception during the annual meeting of the American Psychiatric Association in San Diego, Calif. Presenting the award was Kathleen M. Carroll, PhD, Albert E. Kent Professor of Psychiatry at Yale.

Kleber is a former Professor of Psychiatry at Yale. From 1968 to 1989, he founded and headed the Drug Dependence Unit at Yale University. He served for 2 1/2 years as the Deputy Director for Demand Reduction at the Office of National Drug Control Policy in the White House before beginning work at Columbia.

He is the author of more than 250 papers and the Co-Editor of the American Psychiatric Press Textbook of Substance Abuse Treatment.
