Sloshower to present on integration of psychedelic medicines and psychiatry

March 20, 2017

Jordan Sloshower, MD, MSc, a third-year resident in the Yale Department of Psychiatry, will present at Psychedelic Science 2017, the largest-ever gathering of researchers exploring the scientific, medical, spiritual, and creative uses of psychedelics.

The six-day conference will be held April 19-24 in Oakland, Calif., and will feature over 175 presenters.

Sloshower's talk will address the integration of psychedelic medicines and psychiatry. He recently published a paper in the online magazine, Chacruna, entitled Is Psychiatry Ready for the Psychedelic Healing Paradigm?

Recent advances in psychedelic research and therapy will be presented at the conference. The new research has prompted rekindled interest in the use of psychedelic treatments for common psychiatric conditions.

Sloshower is a leader of the Yale Psychedelic Science Group, which was established in 2016 as an interest group within the Yale Department of Psychiatry to discuss issues at the intersection of psychedelic substances and psychiatry.

The group hosts speakers from outside institutions who are researching the use of psychedelics in medicine.
