Johnson awarded Geriatric Mental Health Foundation Honors Scholar Program scholarship

December 20, 2016

The 2017 Geriatric Mental Health Foundation Honors Scholar Program has accepted Kevin Johnson, MD, a third-year resident in the Yale Department of Psychiatry.

The scholarship will enable Johnson to receive complimentary registration and accommodations for the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry's (AAGP) Annual Meeting in March 2017 in Dallas. He will receive a one-year membership to AAGP and a stipend to defray his cost of travel to the meeting.

The honors scholar program is a prestigious group formed to expose medical students and young physicians to the field of geriatric psychiatry. Scholars receive mentoring and opportunities to enhance their education through the AAGP. The program is intended to increase the number of medical professionals trained to care for older adults.

Johnson will complete a scholarly project related to geriatric psychiatry, and may present his work at the 2018 AAGP Annual Meeting in Hawaii.

Johnson graduated from Weill Cornell Medical College before matching in to the Yale Department of Psychiatry's residency program in 2014.
