October 26, 2016

Marina Picciotto, PhD, Charles B.G. Murphy Professor of Psychiatry and Professor in the Child Study Center, of Neuroscience and of Pharmacology at Yale, will be co-chair of the International College of Neuropsychopharmacology’s International Scientific Program Committee (ISPC) when the organization meets in Vienna in 2018 for its 31st World Congress.

The theme for the 2018 meeting is, “Neuropsychopharmacology: Meeting Global Challenges with Global Innovation.” The theme builds on evidence that neuropsychiatric disorders constitute the greatest single challenge to global health.

Picciotto’s co-chair will be Barbara Sahakian, DSc, FMedSci, professor of clinical neuropsychology at the University of Cambridge Department of Psychiatry and the Behavioural and Clinical Neuroscience Institute in the UK.

“These two scientists are leaders in the synergistic fields that are transforming psychiatry research, clinical cognitive neuroscience and molecular and systems neuroscience, respectively,” wrote John H. Krystal, MD, Chair of the Yale Department of Psychiatry and CINP President.

Picciotto is Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Neuroscience, and has served on the NIDA Scientific Council and as Treasurer of the Society of Neuroscience. She is also Deputy Chair for Basic Science Research for the Yale Department of Psychiatry.
