Work by Desai Referenced in Groundbreaking Report

December 07, 2022

The work and contributions of Miraj Desai, PhD, assistant professor of psychiatry, were referenced multiple times in the groundbreaking report "Racism in the U.S. Health System: The Transformation We Need," led by the prestigious Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF), with consultation support from CoCreative.

The report, which features input from a diverse group of stakeholders in the health, advocacy, and community sectors, “analyzes structural racism across the U.S. health system and how to dismantle it through collective leadership across the health sector and beyond.”

Desai advised and consulted on the project, and his contributions, inclusive of his 2018 book "Travel and Movement in Clinical Psychology: The World Outside the Clinic," were referenced in diverse subsections of the report including history, health education, well-being, and bias.

The full report can be found here.

Through this undertaking, RWJF also aims to expand on their highly successful leadership program, Clinical Scholars, “the longest-running and most influential clinical leadership program in the country for advancing health equity” by supporting more collective and structurally-oriented approaches to leadership.
