Juan Rodriguez-Guzman, MD, assistant professor of psychiatry, has been named medical director and section chief of Psychiatric Emergency Services (PES) at Yale New Haven Hospital after a national search.
Rodriguez-Guzman has a longstanding history at Yale. After completing his Bachelor of Science at the University of Louisiana, he matriculated to Yale School of Medicine in 2017. He subsequently completed his psychiatry residency in the Yale Psychiatry Residency Program, where he held a leadership role as the Hispanic Psychiatry Fellow, graduating in 2021.
Following residency, Rodriguez-Guzman joined the faculty as an assistant professor and attending psychiatrist in PES. During this time, he also held a leadership role at St. Vincent’s Hospital, while continuing to contribute clinically at Yale, before ultimately returning to Yale full‑time.
In addition to his clinical and operational expertise, Rodriguez-Guzman has pursued advanced training in contemporary psychoanalysis through the Western New England Institute for Psychoanalysis. His combined clinical acumen, leadership experience, and deep commitment to education and patient-centered care strongly align with the Yale School of Medicine and Yale New Haven Health missions.
