Tobias Wasser, MD, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, has been selected to serve as Vice Chair of the Forensic Division of the National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors (NASMHPD).
NASMHPD works with states, federal partners, and stakeholders to promote wellness, recovery, and resiliency for people with mental health conditions or co-occurring mental health and substance-related disorders across all ages and cultural groups. The organization has five standing divisions, including the Forensic Division.
As Vice Chair of that division, Wasser will assist the Chair as presiding officer. These duties include jointly overseeing the division’s executive council, facilitating monthly division leadership meetings, organizing annual meetings for the division and in collaboration with other divisions, and identifying key focus areas and trends for development of policy, practice, and education for forensic mental health services nationally.
The Vice Chair will assume the office of Chair in the event it is vacated.
Wasser is a member of the Yale Department of Psychiatry’s Division of Law and Psychiatry. He is also Associate Program Director for the Yale Psychiatry Residency Program.
