Yale Department of Psychiatry’s medical student education section announces the appointment of two new section leaders.

Pochu Ho, MD, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry, has been selected as Associate Clerkship Director.

“Dr. Ho is a thoughtful, experienced, award-winning educator who has been instrumental to clerkship education in the psychiatry department,” said Kirsten Wilkins, MD, Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Director of Medical Student Education.

As a faculty member at the VA Connecticut Healthcare System in West Haven, Ho will serve as a complementary partner to Yale New Haven Hospital-based Clerkship Director Matthew Goldenberg, MD, MSc, Associate Professor of Psychiatry.

The Associate Clerkship Director will assist in the oversight of psychiatry clerkship for medical and PA students, including curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation; clinical and didactic teaching; recruitment and development of faculty and resident educators; and student mentoring/support.

The new Director of Electives is Brian Fuehrlein, MD, PhD, Associate Professor of Psychiatry. “Dr. Fuehrlein is a talented clinician-educator, experienced student mentor, and skilled administrator who will be an effective partner to Elective Coordinator Tammy Savercool in advising senior students and ensuring thoughtful elective placements,” Wilkins said.

The Director of Electives will review elective applications, approve elective students, review elective feedback from students to ensure quality educational experiences, recruit and develop faculty and resident educators, and assist with student mentoring and support.
