The mission of Common Ground High School is to cultivate habits of healthy living and sustainable environmental practices within a diverse community of children, young people, adults, and families. Through the mentorship program and collaboration between Yale medical students/residents and Common Ground High School students, we aim to have a meaningful impact on the lives of at-risk students of our New Haven community through building relationships and serving as role models as diverse individuals in professional careers. We would appreciate your interest in becoming a mentor for our New Haven students. Please contact us at the email address below for more information.
Additional program components include an interactive substance abuse course and planned experiential field trips in medicine throughout the year. These represent opportunities to mingle with students in smaller groups and foster interest in the STEM fields. Residents and medical students serve as teachers and field trip guides.
