Dr. Schaefer is a graduate of Brown University and The Ohio State University College of Medicine, and an alumna of the Yale Neurology Residency Program. She completed 2 years of subspecialty training in movement disorders at Yale. She has a particular interest in medical education, and completed a Masters of Health Sciences with a focus on medical education in 2019. She has designed an interactive, video-based online training curriculum in movement disorders for residents and medical students, which she is currently studying as part of a multi-center randomized controlled trial with 12 neurology residency programs in the U.S. and Canada. She is an active member of the International Parkinson and Movement Disorders Society (IPMDS), a member of the New Learning Formats subcommittee of the IPMDS Education committee, and has published original movement disorders card games through the Young Members Group of the IPMDS (available at: https://www.movementdisorders.org/MDS/About/Young-Members-Group.htm under "Resources for Young Members"). She serves as co-founder and co-host of the new MDS podcast, launched January 2019.
