Biography

In Memoriam: Robert Ardesia, MD 1963-2019

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Robert “Bob” Ardesia, MD, assistant professor of clinical medicine, on July 1, 2019.

Bob battled liver failure for two years before he received a liver transplant in January. His passing was unexpected. He is survived by his wife Katherine, his two daughters Katie and Maggie, his father Dominick, and his brother, John.

Bob completed his residency and cardiology training at Yale New Haven Hospital Saint Raphael Campus (SRC). He opened a private practice before joining SRC where he practiced general cardiology, echocardiography, and nuclear cardiology. He became a faculty member at the Yale School of Medicine in 2002.

Bob was a highly respected figure in the New Haven medical community and widely known for his honesty, professionalism, and altruism. He spent the past 23 years at SRC, where he developed an incredible rapport with his patients.

Bob had an incredible sense of humor that was palpable whenever he entered a room. His stories captivated the hearts of his patients and colleagues alike. His love of being a cardiologist extended toward his interactions with his colleagues. He was always willing to fill in wherever needed. As a mentor, he loved to teach—and the cardiology fellows adored him. Everyone knew Bob was a devoted New York Yankees fan who lived for his family and to serve his patients.

We are diminished by the passing of a good friend and an exceptional colleague. In lieu of flowers, the Ardesia family has requested that any memorial contributions be sent to the Hartford Hospital Liver Transplant Program, 85 Seymour St. Suite 320, Hartford, CT 06106, or the Yale New Haven Hospital Liver Transplant Program, 800 Howard Ave., New Haven, CT 06519.
