Biography

Martha K. Swartz is Associate Dean for Clinical and Community Affairs, Professor in the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Specialty, and co-director for the NetHaven Practice Based Research Network (PBRN) at Yale. She has also formerly served as the Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs at YSN. Her undergraduate degrees are from Oberlin College and the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing, Case Western Reserve University. She has a Master's Degree in parent-child nursing from the University of Michigan, and a doctorate from the University of Connecticut. Her scholarly areas of interest include the primary care of children, health related quality of life in children with asthma, community based participatory research and PBRNs. She is the recipient of the Virginia Henderson Clinical Scholarship Award, Sigma Theta Tau International, Delta Mu Chapter (1999), a University of Connecticut Pre-Doctoral Fellowship, the Scholarship for Leadership Award (meritorious) from Nurses Educational Funds, Inc., and is a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing. She has also held numerous offices for national professional associations, most recently as Secretary for the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, and is currently Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Pediatric Health Care published by Elsevier.
