Dr. Kyle Tretina is a postdoctoral associate working at Yale University. He is particularly interested in genomics-based approaches to host-parasite interactions, particularly protozoan parasites of mammals. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, working on genome re-annotation, comparative genomics, reverse vaccinology, population genomics, and parasite gene regulation projects involving the parasite that causes East Coast fever in cattle. His current work leverages CRISPR/Cas9-based screens, as well as biochemical and super-resolution imaging-based approaches to uncover new host-parasite interfaces that could be targeted by novel chemotherapeutic approaches to treating these infections.
