I am a soft tissue immunologist currently studying: 1) how the immune response becomes aggregated in skin wounds, also called chronic ulcers? and 2) how can engineered materials control the immune response towards promoting successful skin wound healing? 

Specifically, I am targeting the interactions which drive angiogenesis, a crucial process during the stages of wound healing. Published works have described the importance of the immune system and its regulation of the angiogenic niche. My work aims to build a bridge between the lab bench and the bedside towards improving healing outcomes of those battling diabetes, particularly those recovering from surgeries.
