Kevin Couloures



Kevin G. Couloures, D.O., M.P.H. is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pedatrics. Dr. Couloures completed his Bachelor's of Science at the University of California at Davis and then worked as a marine biologist and biotechnology researcher prior to completing his combined Pediatrics and Internal medicine residency in 2004 from LAC+USC Medical Center, Los Angeles. This was followed by a year of pediatric nephrology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and a critical care fellowship at A.I. duPont Hospital for Children completed in 2010. He joined the faculty at Yale in December 2013 after leaving The Children’s Hospital at OU Medical Center where he began his career as a critical care physician. Dr. Couloures is also currently the Director of the Pediatric Sedation Program here at Yale. His interests include database analysis to identify sedation risk factors for creation of a sedation risk prediction score, use of simulation to train for high high-acuity, low prevalence critical events, and ways to improve communication between physicians, nursing staff and families.
