Dr. Schwartz is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Yale New Haven Hospital from which he received the Outstanding Resident Clinician award. Prior to his residency, Dr. Schwartz spent four years as an Engagement Manager at McKinsey&Company in New York City focusing on strategy and operations for its healthcare and media clients. He joined the Yale Emergency Medicine faculty in 2006 and served as Medical Director from 2009-2012. Dr. Schwartz became the inaugural Executive Director for Care Management at Yale-New Haven Hospital and then led the Performance Improvement department and health system Clinical Redesign efforts. In 2016 he was appointed Vice President, Clinical Operations for the Yale New Haven Health System.
