Ayotunde Ayobello



Ayotunde earned his M.D at Crimea State Medical University in Ukraine, shortly after the Russian annexation of Crimea in 2014. While in medical school, he surveyed anxiety levels in foreign medical students and studied the impact of religion and spirituality on mood disorders. He presented his findings at international medical conferences and was awarded "Best Abstract Presentation" at the Zagreb International Medical Summit in Croatia. He received his adult psychiatry training at Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and Research Institute in Roanoke, VA. During his time at Virginia Tech, he was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society and was the recipient of the Arnold. P. Gold Award for Humanism and Excellence in Teaching. He is a self-taught oil painter who delights in creating paintings with psychiatric and psychological under-themes. In 2017, he was awarded the "Best of Show" prize at the National Arts Program Exhibition and his art has been featured in the American Journal of Psychiatry Resident's Journal and the AMA Journal of Ethics. He has interests in medical humanities, particularly the intersection of psychiatry and visual arts. He speaks Russian, enjoys travelling and is an avid supporter of Liverpool Football Club of England.
