Biography

Avis Harper Brooks earned her MA in Health Advocacy at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York. She has over 15 years of experience in academic research settings, primarily at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York. As a Program Manager in the Emergency Medicine at Mount Sinai, her area of focus was the administration of the department’s research training programs. In addition to academic research, Avis spent five years at the State Department of Public Health-Hartford, Connecticut where she was instrumental in working with a team to launch the state’s Colorectal Cancer Control Screening Program, providing free or reduced cost colorectal cancer screenings to uninsured and underinsured populations throughout Connecticut. Her most recent roles include Research Program Manager in the department of Internal Medicine and Research Associate in Emergency Medicine – Yale University.
