Ashley Pierson, PhD

Assistant Professor of Psychiatry; Acting Director of DBT Services, General Adult Intensive Outpatient Program; Assistant Director of DBT Services, General Adult Intensive Outpatient Program

I am a clinical psychologist licensed in NY and CT. My areas of expertise are evidence-based treatments, particularly Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), as well as forensic psychology. I am currently the Acting Director of DBT Services at Yale-New Haven Psychiatric Hospital. This includes my role as the team lead at the DBT Adult Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). I care deeply about DBT program development. I utilize qualitative research methods in conjunction with measurement based care to tailor treatment to meet the needs of individuals and treatment delivery systems. Additional research interests include evaluating the utility of risk assessment instruments, development and evaluation of adaptations to DBT, particularly for adapting DBT to an IOP setting and studying applications of DBT for targeting racism in mental health practice, and evaluating methods of personality disorder measurement.
