Biography

Ariel Jaffe, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in Section of Digestive Diseases, is a board certified internist and gastroenterologist with advanced training in transplant hepatology and in the diagnosis and management of patients with liver cancer. Dr. Jaffe cares for patients as part of both the Smilow Liver Cancer Program and the Liver Transplant Program. She received her medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School and completed her residency training at New York Presbyterian – Columbia University Medical Center before completing her training in Gastroenterology, Transplant Hepatology and Post-Doctoral Research on hepatocellular carcinoma at Yale University.

As part of the Transplant Program and the Smilow Liver Cancer Program, Dr. Jaffe cares for patients in New Haven, at the Smilow Care Center in Waterford, CT, and in the transplant clinic in Stamford, CT. Her current research is focused on streamlining clinical care, understanding the effects of various medical conditions on disease course and prognosis and improving outcomes in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma, in particular patients with metabolic-associated liver disease. She has received both the Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Award and the David Hull, MD and John Polio, MD Travel Award from the American Liver Foundation and has authored original manuscripts and reviews.
