Amarelle Hamo

Amarelle Hamo, Ph.D. is the second year Early Childhood Postdoctoral Psychology Fellow. She completed her Ph.D. in school psychology at Teachers College, Columbia University. Amarelle graduated Cum Laude from Barnard College, Columbia University, with a B.A. in psychology combined with Women’s Gender, Sexuality, and Studies. After completing her undergraduate degree, she worked as a research assistant for two years at the Center for Autism and the Developing Brain at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medicine. During her Ph.D., Amarelle trained at Montefiore Medical Center, Mount Sinai Morningside, NYU Child Study Center, and the Dean Hope Center, working with children, adolescents, and adults with a range of presentations. Amarelle received specialized training in early childhood trauma, anxiety disorders, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and psychoeducational assessments. She also spent two years training in K-12 school settings doing counseling and psychoeducational assessments. Her research has focused on exploring the barriers and facilitators to caregivers’ engagement in healthy habits in a population of caregivers of young children with Autism.
