Biography
Erika Mariotti is the Digital Strategy and Portfolio Manager for the Global Computational Biology & Digital Sciences Department and is located at the research site Biberach, Germany. In this role, she is responsible for identifying new opportunities in line with the digital strategy of the Innovation Unit, as well as for managing the portfolio of ongoing digital initiatives.
Education and Early Career
Erika received her M.Sc in Medical Engineering from the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” spending her final year at Imperial College London where she investigated the impact of blood flow on the formation of plaques in the iliac-aortic bifurcation through fluid dynamic computational simulations. She holds a PhD in Biomedical Engineering and Imaging Sciences from King’s College London where her research was focus on the assessment of the heart’s metabolism using hyperpolarized magnetic resonance and computational tools. Before moving to the Pharmaceutical sector, Erika worked for NEO New Oncology – a Siemens Healthineers Company – covering over the years several ascending positions. Before joining Boehringer Ingelheim in November 2020, Erika was holding the position of NEO’s Head of Development. In that role, she was responsible for the development of entire product portfolio in the area of NGS assays and bioinformatic analysis software.
