Biography

Kaakpema (KP) Yelpaala, ’06 M.P.H. is the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of access.mobile, Inc. and a social entrepreneur with several years of experience in global health and international development, working in both the private and nonprofit sectors. He has lived and worked in several countries in sub-Saharan Africa and the Caribbean, with organizations such as the Clinton Health Access Initiative and Dalberg Global Development Advisors. He has also founded 2 social enterprises in his career: access.mobile, a mobile health enterprise he currently leads, and a nonprofit organization that worked on rural health programs in Ghana and Tanzania in partnership with health ministries and other stakeholders. Kaakpema is an Adjunct Professor at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies, University of Denver. In 2014, Kaakpema was appointed to the Governor of Colorado’s Small Business Council and he is a CoChair of the International Trade Committee for that board. He completed an MPH at the Yale School of Public Health and a Bachelor’s degree with Honors in economic development and public health from Brown University.
