Biography

Katherine Marsland is working on a book on child care policy with colleagues at the Zigler Center. In addition, she continues research on the antecedents of achievement motivation in early childhood and is collaborating on a study in this area with a graduate student at Southern Connecticut State University. In this project they are examining the role of maternal depression in the emergence of children’s helplessness. Dr. Marsland’s other research interests include: socio-emotional development, early care and education, child care quality, and the development of the self system in early childhood.
