Biography

Ms. Cunningham has served for 18 years as the Executive Director of Columbus House, the largest provider of services in New Haven to the homeless community. Now with 6 locations in the New Haven area, Columbus House provides temporary shelter, transitional housing, and employment training to homeless individuals. Ms. Cunningham led the founding, in 2014, of a new 12-bed medical respite program that allows individuals to receive treatment for conditions like pneumonia or cellulitis that might otherwise require hospitalization. Working with members of Yale’s Robert Wood Johnson Clinical Scholars Program, Ms. Cunningham helped show the program’s feasibility and abilityto reduce utilization of high-cost hospitalization with comparable clinical safety and efficacy.
