Rothlin Is Appointed McConnell Duberg Professor
Carla Vanina Rothlin, PhD, newly named as Dorys McConnell Duberg Professor of Immunobiology, studies the mechanisms that regulate the magnitude and resolution of the immune response. Rothlin is also a professor of pharmacology, a member of the Yale Cancer Center, and a Howard Hughes Faculty Scholar.
Colón-Ramos named McConnell Duberg Associate Professor
Daniel A. Colón-Ramos, PhD, recently appointed as Dorys McConnell Duberg Associate Professor of Neuroscience and Cell Biology, focuses his research on how synapses are formed and maintained to control behavior and store memories. Colón-Ramos’ discoveries have altered long-held views on the process and may offer important clues in the fight against disease.
Herold Is Designated C.N.H. Long Professor
Kevan Herold, MD, newly named as C.N.H. Long Professor of Immunobiology and of Medicine, conducts research on the basis for autoimmune diseases and develops new therapies based on these studies. His focus has largely been in the field of autoimmune Type 1 diabetes.
Krystal Among New Leaders of YCCI
The Yale Center for Clinical Investigation (YCCI) has announced the appointment of Brian R. Smith, MD, and John H. Krystal, MD ’84, as co-directors of the center and co-principal investigators of Yale’s Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA). Eric Jose Velazquez, MD, becomes deputy director of clinical trials innovation for YCCI.
Yonkers recruited to head Psychological Medicine at Yale New Haven Hospital
Kimberly A. Yonkers, MD, Professor of Psychiatry, Epidemiology (Chronic Disease), and Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences and Director of the Center for Wellbeing of Women and Mothers at Yale School of Medicine, has been recruited to lead the Section of Psychological Medicine within the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health of Yale New Haven Hospital.
