Dr. Benitez is an Assistant Professor in Pediatrics and Neurology. Dr. Benitez was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where she completed her high school education. She attended college at Washington University in St. Louis, where she majored in Philosophy-Neuroscience-Psychology. She then went on to get her medical degree at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. She stayed at Mount Sinai Kravis Children's Hospital to complete her Pediatric residency training. She then completed a Pediatric Neurology residency at Boston Children's Hospital, where she served as Chief Resident in her final year of training. She most recently completed a fellowship in Pediatric Neuro-Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Her clinical interests include general pediatric neurology, pediatric brain tumors, the neurological complications of cancer, and neurocutaneous syndromes. Her research is primarily clinical, focusing on outcomes in pediatric brain tumor patients and the neurological complications of cancer including seizures.
